  • PineApp hits on local partnership with Impact, Israel-based vendor forms its first Australian distribution partnership after actively starting its search in November last year
Impact Systems has signed on to be the first local distributor for security vendor, PineApp.
The Israel-based email security, Web filtering and SMB solutions vendor first highlighted plans to sign a distributor in November last year.
At the time PineApp vice-president of sales, Arie Wolman, said the vendor had experienced limited success with finding customers and was keen to develop representation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Impact Systems senior channel manager, Peter Agamalis, said PineApp was the distributor’s first play into the space.
“We’re seeing a lot of resellers emerge to take an interest in the space, and a lot of growth in demand for products of this kind,” he said. “There’ll be the challenge of getting the name of an as-yet unknown vendor out when a lot of potential and existing customers recognize competing brands. But PineApp holds substance overseas, and we’re hopeful that it will become a familiar name.”
“Impact is looking to leverage a key set of resellers who will offer PineApp as a value-add with security integrations, and will be supporting the reseller channel in taking the product to market.”
“Impact’s other immediate goals were to continue to develop its partnership and penetration with Microworld’s product line-up, following the partnership inked late last year”, Agamalis said.

  • Excellent report of PineApp Mail-SeCure in Germany’s Search Data Center’s test
PineApp Mail-SeCure 2000 series was put to the test by German Search Data Center and received an outstanding report. Search Data Center is an IT specialist website which is tuned precisely to the specific needs of IT infrastructure professionals and IT decision-makers. Search Data Center’s website hosts updated news, whitepapers, webcasts, product and company databases and newsletters, intended to assist professionals in the development of technological solutions and in coping with the future IT challenges in their organizations.
From the report: “During the test period, our test account received slightly more than 3000 mails, 2500 of which were spam messages. The Mail-SeCure appliance recognized more than 98 percent of this spam mail, with zero false positives, which jibes with the manufacturer’s advertised claim of a 98 to 99 percent recognition rate. This confirms that origin-based anti-spam measures deliver useful results in practice. The product’s other functions, content filtering rules, anti-virus engine (which found all viruses in the test), and reports were absolutely convincing in the test. The same goes for the online help. Thus PineApp’s Mail-Secure is definitely a recommendable solution with good performance benchmarks”.
